Crown Staffing is now hiring a CNC Machinist for a manufacturer of rail products located in Skokie, IL.
CNC Machinist Job Details
Monday – Friday 7am – 4:30pm w/ overtime possible and sometimes mandatory
Pay Rate Range: 27.50 to 33.00 per hour, based on experience
The CNC Machinist will operate multi-axis lathes in support of machining and other processes which includes tasks such as loading and tending runs of parts, or performing one-step operations on individual parts.
Skill Qualifications for the CNC Machinist role:
• 1+ years of experience operating a multi-axis CNC lathe which would include:
o Positioning and securing tools in holding device, machine tables, chuck, centers, and fixtures.
o Indexing turret and adjusting positions of tools at each station in relation to work piece to assure clearance between moving parts and machining of specified dimensions and tolerances
o Starting and observing machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjusts machine controls or control media as required.
• Prior use of standard hand tools
• Prior use of standard pneumatic tools
• Prior use of standard inspection tools i.e. calipers, micrometers, drop gauges
• Prior experience in precision metal machining
• Prior experience in machining with tolerances of +/- .001
• Prior experience machining metals such as; stainless steel, ductile iron, Hastelloy
• Ability to read/interpret blueprints, job orders, tooling instructions, and standard charts for such specifications as dimensions, tolerances, and tooling instructions.
• Perform housekeeping duties including 5S, coolant replacement, and TPM.
• Follow Quality Policy and Procedures in all aspects of daily duties and responsibilities.
• Ability to rotate into other positions within the team as required to meet production requirements.
• Actively participate in team meetings as required (safety, problem solving, etc.).
• Ability to problem-solves individually or as part of a group as job duties require.
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Must possess good mechanical aptitude demonstrated by success in previous machine operation or like activities.
• Must possess good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
Primary Responsibilities/Essential Responsibilities for the CNC Machinist role:
- Machine operation involves loading and tending runs of parts, or performing one-step operations on individual parts.
- Positions and secures tools in holding device, machine tables, chuck, centers, and fixtures.
- Verifies conformance of machined work piece to specifications.
- Reads blueprints, job orders, tooling instructions, and standard charts for such specifications as dimensions, tolerances, and tooling instructions.
- Understand and perform to all quality regulations, standards and policies, including but not limited to ISO 9001:2015 and AAR M-1003. Follow work procedures and ensure highest level of quality.
- Indexes turret and adjusts positions of tools at each station in relation to work piece to assure clearance between moving parts and machining of specified dimensions and tolerances.
- Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjusts machine controls or control media as required.
- May operate welding equipment to weld parts.
- Pressure test parts according to drawing or work procedure.
- Must be able to perform simple inspection using calipers, micrometers, and other miscellaneous gages.
- Must be able to make corrections to offsets to maintain quality.
